Dental Bridges and Dentures: A Solution for Missing Teeth

A missing tooth leaves a space in your jaw that other teeth can move into, creating misalignment that can affect your bite and ruin your smile. There are several ways your dentist can prevent problems from occurring – dental bridges, partial dentures and tooth implants.

At the dental office of Dr. Thomas Vutech, we ensure your dental treatment results in the best in function and aesthetics. Whether your missing tooth is the result of an athletic accident, an injury or gum disease, we can restore you to full function again. Dental Bridges

A dental bridge "bridges" the gap left by one or more missing teeth. A crown is placed over the teeth on either side of the gap and the bridge is connected to the two crowns. In some cases, a bridge can be secured to just one adjacent tooth.

A dental bridge can:

  • Restore your ability to chew properly
  • Improve your pronunciation
  • Prevent the surrounding teeth from becoming misaligned
  • Is less invasive than a dental implant
  • Is more secure than a partial or full denture
  • Is more economical than either a dental implant or a partial denture

Dentures

A partial denture can also take the place of missing teeth. Unlike a bridge, a partial denture is removable. It consists of realistic-looking plastic teeth attached to a plastic base with a metal framework and metal or resin clasp that holds the denture in place in the mouth. Partial dentures fit between your existing teeth. (A full denture replaces all the teeth in an upper or lower jaw.) It rests directly on the gums and does not rely on surrounding teeth for support.
